Angry Pacifier taped in baby's mouth...WTF!

Day care closed because infant found with pacifier taped in his mouth

(9/27/07 - JEFFERSON CITY, TN) - A day care center in this east Tennessee town was closed Wednesday after state inspectors found an infant with a pacifier taped into his mouth.

Tennessee Department of Human Services workers went to the Noah's Ark Nursery and Preschool on Tuesday in response to an anonymous complaint. They heard muffled whining from a darkened room and found a 4-month-old baby with his mouth covered in clear packing tape over a pacifier, department spokeswoman Michelle Mowery Johnson said.

The center was closed pending a hearing Thursday before an administrative law judge.

Nursery owner Kim Trentham, who has run the center since 1993, did not immediately return calls.

"It's absolutely unbelievable that this would happen," Johnson said. "They have no respect or concern for life. The child could have died."

The center, which cares for 24 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old, received a highly favorable rating from the DHS during its last inspection.

Exactly. I don't get how someone in their right mind, someone who is certified to be a child care taker (hopefully), would lock a 4 MONTH old baby in the dark for no one to hopefully see just like that. There are people struggling to have children and here this person did this. How can that person think this was a good idea? Burn those people alive!

Quote:
According to the suspension order, caretaker Angela Day Gentry told police the taping incident had occurred before, and that placing the tape on the child was a "mutual" idea between herself and Kim Ball, the other caretaker in the room.

Gentry told police Ball actually placed the tape on the child, according to the report.

"The child literally could have ingested the tape, aspirated, or had breathing problems very quickly (among other possibilities) without an adult's knowing of any crisis," the report stated.

grrrr some people should not be allowed to reproduce!!! They need to do a better job at monitoring people that work with children.

And people ask why I am willing to pay what Kids R Kids charges to watch my infant. There are cameras I can watch from my computer all day long. Good thing is, they know we (parents) check in from time to time which keeps them on their toes. Pay the extra money to put them in a good place.

reading this kinda stuff makes me want to shoot someone. I can not stand people who harm innocent, harmless people/animals.

To me both those deserve to have a hysterectomy and then sent to a Ranch to slave for an old helpless women who still survives on her crops and cows.

People like that don't deserve to live... they deserve a life a torture!

exactly, it may be pricey, but as far as I kknow, they do a great job, very professional, my 4 y/o loves it there. and also after leaving it with a so called certified day care lady working at home....second day my son contracted a really nasty eye infection.....stupid woman let's her two dumb dogs inside all day..and I was dumb enough to leve my kid there even after notig=cing the smell of dogs which was very strong inside the house.
