What is a Good Beginners Bike

I don't have a bike yet, and I am hoping to get some good advice on bikes and gears from everyone. I am tall, so I don't want a little bike that will make me look huge one it, and I want something that has some power, but not enough to get myself in trouble at a beginner. I also want to get a bike that I won't get sick of real fast, but also won't hurt when I drop it or something.

So what is y'all's opinion? What is a good starter bike for me?

ninja 250's are bullet proof and resale like hot cakes...a new design for 2008 and I can't imagine having issues reselling it.

I'm actually not REALLY in the market to sell, I love the bike. But I have found something else I really like, here is the SV:

l 911af50d4e0bdd678892152a5624f75c

Looks diff. now with the new exhaust though. PM if interested.

I don't know what other post you saw it in, but it is in a few

I love the flat black. I don't know how "dangerous" it is, I don't think that the difference between people seeing my flat black or someone's dark red coming at them is much to gawk at. I had a belt buckle scratch on my gas tank, $2 later I don't have a belt buckle scratch on my tank anymore

The black was originally done b/c the bike had a full-fairing kit installed, so the whole thing was painted black to match. With some powdercoated parts the bike would look slickkkk. I just put a full M4 system on it too that gives it a of a nicer look/sound.

I have never seen the flat black before...it is really different. I would love to see what that looks like in real life. It's a nice looking bike!

All modern sportbikes, U really cant go wrong with, all work very good, unless U abuse them, I think U might be too tall for a ninja 250? U are tall arent U, seems like I seen that somewhere?

Yeah, I am almost 6 foot without shoes...so I am really pretty tall.
I have seen the 250's and they look like little kids bikes in my opinion..I think I would look like a large clown riding a tri-cycle...not exactly how I want to look. :o)

it;s a training tool. thats the attitude to have. it's your first bike, not your last.

one of my fellow inst. who's also an eng. for Invista, is 6'? "+ 300lbs +, been riding forever, has 2 1200cc bikes in the garage bought a ninja250 earlier this yr, he loves 60+mpg.

i'm thinking about buying another one, just for the mpg.
