Tranny Question....

My 2nd gear just started clicking tonight and no other gear does it.* Any ideas what the problem is?* BTW, it's an '04 R6.* Hopefully it isn't too bad to fix.* I'm going to go check it out tomorrow and put it up on my rear stand and see if it still does it. It seems to ride great in every gear but 2nd.

:laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

ok seriously though... what type of "clicking" sound does it make? does it just make a sound or does it bog down or try to shift into a diffrent gear?

More like a knocking noise only while it's in 2nd. All other gears don't do it. I think I'm going to take it in just to have it checked out. Does Yamaha's extended warrenty cover you think?

my 02 R6 does that too, make that little xtra clicking sound only when shifting into 2nd gear. I took it to Patrick's yesterday, Brandon checked it out, says there is no problem and yamahas do actually do that a bit more than others.
what you are saying sounds similar to me. so you should be good too,no problemo. right:

I just took it to my local shop and they rode it and they can't really tell the problem but they're guessing "either something came loose or possibly a shift fork is bent and would have to have the tranny rebuilt". PATRICK, what does it sound like to you?

Re: Tranny Question....

Kinda difficult to guess, one mans "clicking" noise is another mans "clunk".
Aside from the noise, does the bike pull o.k. in 2nd? Does the shifter try to move in and out of gear? If so than you may have a bent shift fork.
I'd like to listen to it to give you a better analysis just like we did speedismo's. Bring it by and we can test drive it, no charge.

Bent shift fork. They didn't figure out because when they told me the price, I never took it back. I'm just going to let this guy in Texas City repair it for me. If I pulled the motor myself, he would repair for $100 but I don't feel like with it.

Re: Tranny Question....

I always end up with extra bolts and screws. I'm not even going to mess with pulling it myself. :eh:
