Anyone here near Austin?

I'm headed to Rockdale, TX on Friday. Starting a new job Monday with a company I worked for before down in Port Arthur.

I'm a Boilermaker/Ironworker, and was planning on finding a shutdown to get on to make some quick cash. After a lead I got didn't pan out, I started making calls, and called the company I'd worked for, but a different site. (I'd quit in Port Arthur). They said they'd check my records and let me know something. I hung up the phone with a sigh, getting that all morning. lol

They called back 5 minutes later, with an offer for a foreman position, lasting til around the middle of '09. 48 hours a week, good pay, and only 3 hours from home? yeah.

So doesn't look like I'll be riding in Houston much in the near future. But I think Rockdale is between Austin and College Station, so there's bound to be some guys on here that live/ride in that general area?

I'll be taking the car this weekend, and coming back to get the bike in a couple weeks once I get settled in.

woot! long term project = lots of new parts for the bike and the car.

Nice. Looks like you're not too far from where I'll be. I'll have the laptop, so once I get the bike up there and get settled in, maybe we can get a group together and go ride. I'd like to make a trip to Austin soon too. Been years since I've been there. From what I remember though, I'll stay away from the on and off ramps of the freeway.
