The 20lb Milestone

Woke up this morning and got on the scale and w00t! Finally hit the the milestone marker of 20lbs gonzo!

That wasn't my target though. That's still another 7lbs away, but it felt good!

The closer I get to my target, the more I start to think that I may have to set a 2nd target of another 5-10 lbs.

Thanks!!

The hardest part is just getting started. I did have a lapse in the middle somewhere. Unfortunately I have the ability to gain weight just as fast as I can lose it.

I lost 12, gained 4, then lost that again and another 8.

Protein shakes? Weight gainer 2000? Steak 'n eggs?

What are you trying to bulk up for? UFC?

Cool deal! Congrats! I'm not sure how much more I'll have to lose. I'll figure that out when I hit my target!

TMI, but I'm having a difficult time keeping my boxers up. Not ready to buy new unders just yet.

My old t-shirts are starting to fit again.

Congrats to u too. The thing is just to keep at it. Slow and steady. Even if you have a weekend where u eat everything in sight.. Dont worry. The weekends are to reward yourself anyway(if your good during the week)... Just make sure your working out as much as u can. Then U will start to notice more things like that, and how u gotta notch ur belts etc.

I was 235 in Sept 05. I now walk around at 185.

The first 20lb was lost just by changing what I eat/drink. I stopped eating as much fast food, fries, and ice cream. I also cut out sodas completely. Water or Tea is what it is now.

The remaining 30lb was lost by starting to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I'd worked out at the gym for years and never bulked up, cut up, or lost weight. Plus, I had no workout partners and it was boring and too easy to skip. With BJJ, there's comraderie with the other students and you have people to push you to get better. It's a COMPLETE body workout. I realized I have muscles and aches in places I never knew existed. I'm in better shape now than I've ever been, even when I was the same weight in HS playing sports.

If you don't mind me asking, what'd you start at, what are you at now, and what's your height/build? You might be surprised how much you can lose if you stick to it. Mine has taken 2 years slowly. I still give in to cravings now and then. If I don't, I'll go crazy.

Good job dude!

Awesome! Congrats! That's pretty much what I have done. No fast food and no sodas. Man I miss sodas. But I have come to LOVE unsweetened tea.

I started at 212 (if my scale is accurate, lol) I was at 192 when I started this thread. Should be 1 lb lighter today.

I'm 5'8" Not sure what my build is, but I was 208-ish in this pic, It was difficult to breathe on the mini with the suit zipped up!

In my teens, one of my nicknames was 'BONES', because I was sooo skinny. lol

I'll bump this thread when I hit the 20 lb. mark... Started running again last week and has been going good. I currently weigh in at 250, looking to get down to to 220, but 20 lbs is my goal by years end. unlike Arturo, I'm gonna have before and after pics so I don't ever end up a fat . I'm on the heavy side now, but certainly not a 350 lb taco, burger eating fool. Gonna lose it now before I end up that way + my gal has lost 25 lbs since May and as she becomes skinnier I become less confident as she is getting the attention of a lot of guys. I gotta keep up with 'em

I didn't say I don't have 'em. I said I won't be posting them.

Good luck, man!

I had a physical in January and it wasn't good. Too much stress and not enough exercise. Talked to the dietition at the DR office and got on a diet. That was at 255 lbs and I am down to 205lbs.
I watch what I eat and get exercise at the gym three times a week.

Glad you reached your first goal. Always begin with the ending in mind. Remeber the most imporatant thing is that falling off the "diet wagon" is okay, but you have to stop and get right back on again.

Good luck with it...

Blue91 where do you train BJJ? My brother-n-law owns a gym in htown - West U. www.Bambammartialarts.com I haven't trained with him in a while due to a reoccurring dislocated shoulder, but he is a 7 time Muay Thai champ and a BJJ black belt. He began to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under various big names like Rickson Gracie, Relson Gracie, Royce Gracie, and John and Carlos Machado. Eventually however, he went with his close friend and jiu jitsu extraordinaire Mario Roberto whom he received his black belt from. PM me if you are interested or just check out his website. You also might be interested in coming down to Richmond, TX to Trav's Roadhouse on Saturday nights. I work the www.extremefightnight.com down there. We have boxing, kickboxing, submission grappling, cat fights, jello wrestling for the ladies, and domestic disputes. It's a good time + hot country chicks. Had a stretch Navigator pull up last saturday with 25+ hawt @$$ girls having a bachelorette party.

As far as the workout is concerned, one 1 hour class will wear your @$$ out. I run 3 miles every other day now and it pales in comparision to that 1 hour in his gym. Talk about getting some good sleep everyday. MMA training really helps cut weight and keep it off.
