Studies have shown that these programs are not in the best interest of the cats or surrounding residents....
The cats do not live healthy lives and are carriers of disease. They are also not easily caught twice.
Feeding a stray cat pop just keeps the pop number artificially high, and atracts more cats and, yes, rodents. The cats are typically too unhealthy/lazy/fed to bother to control rodents and typically just kill birds for fun.
Under city of houston regulattions, this practice is actually illegal as well.
