Intersections and music

i have two questions....

first... what are the secrets or tips i can use when i pull up to a left turn lane at an intersection by myself? cuz i just waited thru 4 lights until someone finally pulled up behind me... just waiting to turn into my neighborhood...

second... is it illegal to ride with headphones on? like my mp3 player? cuz i keep it low enough to where i can hear the wind in my helmet, the sound of my engine, and the sound of sirens and horns.... oh yea... today was the first time i tried it

i know that in louisiana that it's illegal to ride with both headphones in but 1 only is not illegal. All the times ive been pulled over not 1 cop has ever said anything about it. 1 of those laws they dont really enforce i guess

I've gotten pulled over by a trooper and when he walked up i pointed my finger in the air as a way of saying "wait" and took off my helmet and headphones. He didnt care. Still got a speeding ticket tho he cared about that

as for the intersections, you may be screwed in some cases.

most intersection that arent timed, either have some kind of scale the senses weight, or more often its some kind of electromagnetic sensor, that knows when alot of metal is over it.

if its an intersection you normally go through, try to figure out which type it is. if it goes by weight, sometimes you can stand up and slam your booty onto the seat (HARD!) to set it off. i have done that before when i had to ride a eliminator 125.

for the metal sensor there might be a couple tricks, one is to ride right by the line on the edges (if i remember right, the sensor doesnt work in the middle.) i also heard that lowering your kickstand at that area can set it off.

there is also a device you can buy and mount onto your bikes lower frame, its like a big electro magnet that will fool it. might work, might not.

i did just hear that a new law was (finally) passed to force all traffic sensors like these to be operate with motorcycles and not just cars, but it may be a long time before they are all changed.

in the meantime if all else fails, you might have to get in the other lane, go the other way and u-turn, or go through a gas station parking lot etc.

i heard cutting through lots can be illegal too, but i would hope the cop would understand if you explained the situatioin. sometimes you just cant win :(

And dont worry about the headphones thing as long as you car still hear whats going on around you. And Im assuming you are wearing a helmet over them headphones and not squiding it out.
