As for the style, I lost a stepson 5 years old to a boy driving a truck 75 in a 45 in the woodlands... So that always plays on my mind. I do runouts usually around the Louisiana area due to the open roads; I just put the 220 guage on the bike so I've only known the bike to do 185 till now, need to go back... Before that incident I rode a lot different... Most of the miles(7k since may) done with my motorcycle ministries; where I am manly cruisers go out. If we hit up the forest or 3090 I meet them at the end, which still gives me a nice cruise usually not over 130 for my preference.

As for the R1, I've been curious since last bikes we raced in Cali were always CBR750 class(rektech lub. systems); so I've seen the R6s and considered the R1 or rc51 before the incident above where I chose a bike I could do more long trips on comfortably
I doubt your going to find more riding comfort on an R1 from what your on now. I've heard a Busa is quite comfortable on long rides, are you not finding that to be the case?

Old thread bump... mainly cuz I dont wanna start another. And this one was freakin hilarious....

Why do all the WRONG type of people always say they wanna go for a ride?

I try to be nice but it usually comes down to the point of me having to say "no you will not fit" or "I have to be able to ride this thing home and frankly, I need the rear tire and suspension to hold up."

I dont have a rear cowl on the katana so no 'filter' like the busa had w a solo seat

And if I say it can only hold one passenger, they whine even more there's still a rear seat. Sheesh peeps get the clue.

Always! Always!

I dont get it. And they can be right infront of their BF etc asking for a ride and my answer is always a polite "no" in the beginning. I've come close to getting in fights over it. It happens nearly everytime we go out.

W the busa it was easy... I acted like there wasnt room in the front seat if I didnt want to give them a ride.

just say ur not skilled enough when added weight is there. or u dont know how to operate properly with another person.

my rule of thumb is anything that weights the same as i or less. Once i broke that rule with a girl about 10 more lbs than me....wasnt bad. Ive even had a guy on the back once....but he was almost discustingly unattractively skinny...ok, not almost. he was
