That's cold.

It has to be explained in a certain way. One must use just the right amount of hesitation; there are key places in the excuse giving when one must balk as though unsure how to phrase it in a delicate yet communicative manner, and all this has to be superimposed over a subtlety embarrassed tone. It's perhaps best to follow with advice seeking, for instance: "I've tried taking Pepto Bismol. My mom told me to eat bananas and rice, but nothing's helped." [Pause] "Do you have any advice? I'm afraid I'm getting dehydrated. If it doesn't stop soon, I'm gonna need to see a doctor."

i used to have an employee that would call in all the time. he always had new excuses, but the one that caught my attention was " my grandpa died and i have to go to his funeral".

he used that one about every other week. seriously.

^ almost like that one but i heard...

you have your friend call you at work as an emergency.

upon picking up the phone you yell..

"WHAT??! Grandpa fell off the roof?!?!?!? OMG i have to go!"

i dunno why but it sounds so hilarious. i dont think i could pull it off with a straight face.

if I was your boss and you told me your grandpa fell off the roof, I'd tell you unless you were a trained paramedic or dr. you were staying your right here at work.

I agree. Unless I can't physically get out of bed, ie. really bad bike wreck, I'm at work. Even then I worked from home. The only time I miss is when my kids are sick.
