Texas Honor Ride for Wounded Soldiers

Anyone hear about this ride?

I went to the fundraiser this last Saturday and I know there was a lot of chrome out there, But there was love for the sport bike just the same.

NOVEMBER 10th at I10 and Beltway 8 there will be the largest, police escorted ride to Austin(yes, the whole way with all on ramps blocked, helicopters, fly bys and even some of the soldiers from the hospital driven to houston to ride in cars with us back.)

We are headed to the Hospital in Austin with entertainment, food, etc...

This is a good cause and i will have more information as I receive it from the church... There should be a posting on the web; I wasn't expection to write this and i felt moved to....

I know there is cops and honestly the ride through the forest Saturday was dauntingly slow(especially for those on the other lanes who had to wait for all 500 bikes to clear the road... sorry for ruining your ride) but it will be fun nevertheless for all the right reasons... To say thank you for the men and women who sacrificed themselves for our benefit.

The Texas Honor Ride (THR) is a police escorted ride that is going onto an active military base where Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is located at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Certain requirements are mandatory for access.

Absolutely NO guns or weapons allowed on base

It is a Federal Crime!

Motorcycle Entry Requirements For Military Base

Motorcycle riders on military bases are required to abide by many regulations that are not required by state laws. The Texas Honor Ride has obtained permission to reduce the military requirements for our police escorted riders if our riders comply with the following requirements while driving on base:

Driver must have a valid motorcycle drivers license

both driver and rider must wear: helmet required, eye protection,
full fingered gloves, long sleeves, long pants and boots.

THR riders cannot freely roam around the base.
During our safety briefings you will be informed of the base restrictions.

Pre-Registration, On-Site Registration, Wrist Bands, Base Access

Pre-registration is encouraged, please print a copy of your receipt and bring with you. Please also print out, complete and sign the “Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement” and bring it with you to the ride.

Note: Riders CANNOT pre-register and then just show-up at BAMC in San Antonio and then expect to gain access to the base or the event. Non-escorted riders will NOT be allowed on the base.

You must come to one of the following two registration sites on Nov 10th to complete the paperwork, obtain a THR wrist band, participate in a safety and base briefing and then ride within the THR police escorted ride to gain access to the base. Again - Only riders with (THR) registered wristbands and participating in the THR police escorted ride groups will be allowed access onto the base.
