Don't kid yourself! You probably can't even ride to the potential of your 600. Most of us can't.

It just amazes me that people come on here asking for advice and then when they get advice they didn't expect or don't want to hear... they completely ignore it.

Why on earth do you care what the current crop of litre bikes is like if you aren't going to get one until next fall? No one here has ridden an 08 GSXR 1000 or 08 R1. So when you plan on getting your new bike "that can pull a wheelie at 40mph while sitting down" the even newer 09 models will be out... that means the newest model year bike anyone here has experience is 2 model years older than the one you'll be purchasing.

So in the craziest of worlds what you're asking has almost no relevance at all to your purchase next year... unless of course you were asking about reliability, resale or some other long term statistic. But you didn't ask that, you simply asking for speed and wheelie-ability.

Did that make sense to anyone but me?

You know, the adding a turbo'd flux capacitor upped the HP on my F4i to 114 rear wheel horse!

NOOBS! When will they ever learn? If he put the turbo'd flux capacitor on, it would add at least 50 HP to the 1K. Add in the extra HP from the K9 P race fuel which should be around 8-10 hp, he'd be faster than most pro stock bikes.

If I were him, I'd put on the hand built J Force exhaust and add another 15 hp. However you have to be a licensed racer to get one, it would be well worth it.

I bet you had a hard time keeping your front wheel on the ground after your flux mod huh?

Great advice from a guy who went from a Busa(1k+300) to a 600!! He's faster on that 600 than he could have ever hoped for on the Busa.

Why anyone needs that kind of power to "cruise" is beyond me. Learn to ride a new 600 better. I've raced for several years and the 1k's scare me so I will not ride one. Tiny mistakes, big results, so I can see my skinny being flung off the highside into oblivion. If you ride the 600 to it's potential you can keep up or pass the average liter bike rider anyway..........

For out riding, the 1K is (prolly) too much for the street. But then again, so is any 600R. If you're wringing the throttle hard, any of the 'sport bikes' can bite you really easily.

If you're serious about "cruising" [though I don't know how you could remain serious for long with 150+ hp (what do they say about absolute power corrupting?)] then I would get a 1000 (or better yet a Busa) for the street.

I really like the fat slab of torque that you get with the big bore bikes. They feel like you are getting pushed by a train.

In the end, if you whack the throttle open on any of these bikes they can hurt you. On the liters you just don't have to be up so high in the rev-range to enjoy yourself.

Noting his comments about the R1 and myself being biased towards an R1 (as anyone can tell from my avatar): of course I would say that.

But, I'm sure since you're so smart you can figure that out yourself.
