I love the triple digits on my Max, so nah... I will admit though I do like the ease of getting there on a sportbike.

#10 - The "other" crazy people on the road. (I didn't know you were scarred of me on my l'il O'l Cell Phone in my BIG, Red Truck.)

#9 - Non-Gear wearing/using Squids (Respect! Natual selection at it's Peak.)

#8 - Sharing my new found Uh...Joy/Friends with everyone else - (Nobody cares!)

#7 - The legal drinking limit is 0.0 (Who knew one drink could reek so much havoc!)

#6 - Knowing I will outgrow my Yami Virago 250 really fast and already wanting another, bigger/more expensive ride! (Kawi Mean Streak - Red/Black Matte - Wish is came in Yellow/Blk Matte)

#5 - Husband rides a Sportsbike too fast! (What's up with that - Does he have a death wish? One more speeding ticket and it won't be the bike that kills him!)

#4 - Wind Buffetting that will pull you off your bike or your gear off of you! (No wonder people invest in windshields - And why don't Manufacturers sell the bikes with them the blankity-blank money hungry so-n-so's!)

#3 - Becoming a Gear . (So that's why my hubby needed 3 jackets/helmets/boots/etc. etc. ad nauseum - even though you can only wear one at a time.)

#2 - Wanting to ride more - but it HURTS and I'm TIRED! (The stress of learning to ride, the heat, the tension in my shoulders, the pain in my A**! And yet somthing compels me...)

And the #1 Reason I hate riding my own Cruiser instead of a Cage

#1 - SMELL-O-VISION! (What is THAT SMELL! A skunk? Dead Cow? Someone buring dirty diapers/porta potties? Who knew the world smelled this bad! And Heaven forbid you get behind a Big Rig belching black! BLEGH!!!
:10 WELCOME TO HOUSTON!
:9 Welcome to Houston again...
:8 Get new friends... your others are boring...
:7 harley riders are known to have a problem with that rule... dont join them..
:6 master that 250 then move on, yea its slow, but focus on how you handle the bike at speed, not how you can hold on getting there.
:5 tell hubby to slow down or none for him! and that he should be keeping an eye on you since your learning not showing you his lovly tail lights in the distance
:4 windshields are for the weak! lol you will get the stomach muscles to fight the wind
:3 gear is a great item to spend money on!
:2 if you are tired and you hurt, take the day off and rest up, dont ride if your tired, usually leads to bad things going down
:1 haha, you will begin to see these things before you get to them and can hold you breath for a couple seconds tilll you get clear then breath again so you dont get it in your system and avoid the smell all together

enjoy!

Just addressing some of the comments from previous posts -
(And thanks for caring and sharing!)

Hubby only got 1 ticket - 27 over the Limit -
Don't think he'll do it again... And not because of me -
He's a tight-wad and it cost him MONEY!

I always knew Houston Stunk, only now I get to smell it... I have had the chance to smell some good things too, like fajitas.

I bought a bike, took the BRC, got the "M" and Joined this site -
to meet/make new friends. (PS - It's working!)

I also already have boots, under armor hip/ pads, Icon Moto Jeans, 2 Jackets, 2 Helmets and 5 or 6 pairs of gloves... (And I still want more!)

I still really want a windshield - I've had some bugs commit suicide on my jacket/helmet and 2 rocks from trucks to the face shield! I killed a bee trying to get in my helmet and I don't want to consider spiders in my gear...
Thanks for an awful mental picture!

I don't prefer a cage unless I've got the kids. And I really do love my Yami. I don't want a "Rocket" I'm not ready for more CC's, but I do realize why people outgrow them so quickly.

Only 250 miles under my Yami so far, think I need the full 3000 and take the Advanced rider course and then upgrade to a more substantial ride.

I love that you don't even know me, but we're family.

I would say that if your are wanting to upgrade soon and take the advanced course. You should get the new bike then do the course since you have to use your bike. It will give you a chance to learn all the advanced moves on the new bike that you will be on longer.

Hello All,

OK here is the straight .

Event: Lake Summerville Run
Time: 0900
Date: 09/23/07 (Sunday)

Ride Details:

Meet @ Tony's in Sealy (I-10 & hwy36), breakfast, coffee, Danish what ever. 0845 assemble in parking lot for safety review and map issuance. Please fill your bike prior to 0900 as not to delay the ride. Leave out, we will stop along the way for refueling I know the Max only goes about 100 miles or so. Stop for lunch in Round Top, 1-1/2 - 2 hour break depending on the groups enthusiasm. 2nd stop at Lake Somerville for photo op and leg stretches. Technically the ride will end in Sealy ending up back at Tony's. Of course that is all tentative. I realize that everyone will be coming in from all over so when or if you're ready to break off and head home feel free, just please let me know so that I don't hold up the ride waiting. This is a great ride and for me...long over due. So far were up to about 9 bikes and hope that others will decide to join in.

This Ride sounds amazing. I don't know if I'm up to all day on the bike, but I'm trying to find a sitter for the kids right now.

#13 - Sand Blasted! (Big truck carrying sand - under helmet - over jacket - NOT COOL)

Yea, those 5 minute showers that leave you soaked the rest of the ride.

Not to mention, it's your nuts that get wet the last. Nothing quite like cold water trickling down your to make your day that much better.

Thumbs up

hey guys and gals, just letting you know the ride for Lake Sommerville that I posted earlier in the thread is still on and I am having some of the guys meet me at I-10 and Hwy 6 at the Shell station at 7am. From there we will head to my groups meet up point in Sealy. Going to be a great time! this group is well versed in large group rides. Wont be too fast or too slow, it will be just right... So c'mon... who's up for the ride?
