just got off the phone with Alonzo who left the hospital with Todd. He will be OK. Yes he has a concussion and doesn't remember the incident. They're looking to let him go home as early as tomorrow.

It was a ZX6R, and I do not believe he is on these boards. He is fine and the bike is not bad at all. I saw the wreck happen, As you guys know it is a fairly slow corner, but can be a lil slick.

This doesn't apply to this incident, but it sure seems like they're really quick to put you on life flight and charge you and insane amt for the ride. I've seen a guy life flighted with two broken legs, and he was like WTF when he saw the helicopter landing.

Paramedics make decisions for air transport based on many different variables. A good paramedic will explain to the patient (as long as they are coherent) why they're getting air transport, and why ground transport is not a good option.

Yeah, it's expensive, but when you need it, who gives a what the cost is?

Not to say that there aren't people who make poor decisions with air trans, but you only have mere seconds to make a decision like that, especially in a rural area.

Sounds like with Todd, they made a good decision (as a Monday morning medic's opinion) as there is no definitive way to really assess the difference between a closed head injury with a bleed or a concussion. A small bleed can mimic a concussion.

Make no bones about it, concussions are serious, and there are different grades of severity.

Sounds like a good job done by all here!

We had a girl lifeflighted from crashing a busa at baytown Houston receway park dragstrip, she had a broken pinkie toe, I think just the ride was $18,000.00 alone for a broken toe and they just wraped itNo surgeries, no roadrash, no bleeding or swelling, I dont think her helmet touched, just a broke toe

If that's true, then she's an idiot. Why in the world would anyone with a simple broken toe allow themselves to be transported by helicopter to the hospital? , I wouldn't even take an ambulance to the hospital for that.

I'm betting there's a lot more to that story.

Head injury = one thing, broken toe = something else.
