BMC filter

Hey guys and gals. I'm putting in a bmc filter on my bike that I just picked up and it looks like the the filter does not fit flush inside the airbox lid. This is preventing the bolts from reaching the nuts in the bottom of the air box. Does anyone know if you are suppose to shave the filter down or use longer bolts? Any one had this issue bofore?

Thanks

might be positioning the filter in wrong. it should be a direct replacement.

I'm on pruitt road just south of rayford sawdust, near papas ice house. I fooled around with it for a few minutes and decided to come in here and ask before I get frustrated.

I got it from Motorcycles Unlimited, I checked and the box says for 03-04 r6. So I checked the BMC site and the part number is still the same for the 05. I will go try again here in a bit. Thanks for offering to help.
