Re: Anyone know how to create a website?

Are you saying he wants interactive sales on the website? Like shopping carts and stuff...? If so an eBay store or something would probably be easier. Although, it depends on what kind of access he has to bandwidth, storage and servers. Plenty of free ecommerce stuff but the configuration is usually tedious and not compatable with server hosts.

Re: Anyone know how to create a website?

How is he going to host the website? This is the first thing that has to be decided... because your hosting factors can limit the technology you can use to develop the site.

to be honest there is no such thing as the word "basic" in web site designs, he is gonna end up doing something way out there that looks flashy and appealing to someone eyes, which is not a BAD thing at all, its actual good but just time consumning, anyhow im on the same boat as he is, im learning all about this with a few manuals, photoshop, dreamweaver mx and flash mx...if your buddy needs some helps with the beginning stages of learning process, like manual....*cough*program*cough*...., drop me a PM

how much money is he willing to invest, and how soon he needs it ????
i can create the application using vb.net and asp.net with any database he desires but the easiest will be a simple access database.

show me the money

yes... you can pay to have your own wheel reinvented...

or you can use one off of the shelf... i.e., lots of providers out there have existing shopping cart models you can select from...

pm me some more details... so we can establish the best solution based on his needs...

i'm talking about hosts that have already written all the objects and coding... typically in .net, c#, etc., etc.,...

why code something from scratch when there are dependable shopping cart models supporting BIGGER companies (and having TEAMS of programmers) already out there... duh?...

this is business... so if u wanna go spend $120/hr to start from scratch u go for it...* foo...*

Re: Anyone know how to create a website?

As I said... he needs to figure out his hosting situation first. The details from there will dictate major factors in the development of the site. Or you could listen to a bunch of amatuers. Your choice. right:
