What does 16 have to do with needing room for lots of ?

That laptop looks fine. I'm sure there are some people that will say you should get this or that for some reason but unless they know of serious issues with the compac then I say go for it. Regardless, I would get the three year warranty. It's expensive but my Toshiba needed it.

Stay away from Compac's, HP's, Toshibas. Dell's and IBM's are good.

toshibas are just a piece of cheap poorly engineered laptops product of big corporations greedy to attract customers with low-priced and low-quality products just in order to compete in the capitalist system. My little niece had one of those and it broke down twice in a year, fortunately she had the extended warranty.
I would highly recomend dell, we have two of them at home and they've never have any malfunction since we bought them two years ago.

1GB of memory is the bare minimum to run vista so if you want a notebook thats going to be able to do the stuff a 16 year old wants to you will more then likely need 2GB or more. I say go with a dell. if you go dell wait a couple of weeks for the back to school back log to go away but before the christmas rush. unless you dont mind waiting for your system.
