Help - My bike won't start

When I turn the key, the dash lights up, the headlights come on, and the fuel pump primes. When the starter is pressed, nothing happens (except the lights go out, but that's normal). I'm trying to locate a trailer to take it to the dealer, but until then...?

Before you ask...yes I did check the kill switch...

I've searched the site and haven't found anything useful. I could try to clean and re-connect the battery terminals, as well as charge the battery to see if that is the issue. This is an '05 with nearly 10,000 miles and never had a probem. I ride in rain occasionally, but I don;t believe the ignition was affected. I'm taking her to the stealer ASAP, but what could it be?

This sure caught me off guard.

Could it be the side stand switch? The clutch switch?

I checked the side stand switch. And the bike is in neutral. I'm thinking it may be the clutch switch or something with the kill switch...

did ja try to charge the battery?, take it to autozone (or your friendly parts dealer) ask them to charge it and see if it holds a charge, if the battery is good try to start your bike, ofcouse after you put it back it.

Possibly the clutch switch. There's 2 black wires with a yellow stripe on them coming out of the switch. Jump both of those wires together and see if it will start.

Patrick, I wiggled and pressed the clutch wires into the connector and tried it (nothing). I tried wiggling and pressing them into the connector again and after a couple of minutes she fired up! Thanks to all for the ideas!

What does this mean? Is it just a loose connector? Or is it something my dealer should repair/replace? ( I have extended warranty)

Sounds like you may just have some corrosion on the plug.

Would dialectric grease fix it? And should I put it where the plug goes into the connector? Sorry, I'm a Newbie with electronics.

I'd have the dealer replace the switch under warranty since it's happened once. When they replace it, make sure they use grease.
