FZ1 vs Bandit 1250S

Looking at the '08 models, have selected either the Yama FZ1 or Suzu Bandit 1250S. K1000 not my style.
Looking for input from the group on experiance or preference for either.

Thanks,

Bandit has better low end / midrange. Is more comfortable IMo and is smoother. The chassis is good too.
The only downside the 1250 has to the FZ1 is it's heavier, but you really only notice it pushing it around.
My money would go to the 1250.

+1 on the Bandit. Only drawback on the older models was the buzziness, new one FTW!

And so far as the weight.... good exhaust will drop 15-20 lbs. Loose the PAIR system another 10 or so.

according to the magazines the bandit will be slightly more comfy and the FZ1 slightly more sporty, but both are great bikes, so depending on your bent pick one.
personally I'd take the suzuki.

The FZ has adjustable suspension front and rear. Since it weighs less it handles better too.
The question is how do you ride? For long seat time riding the Bandit may suit you better. If you like a sportier but still comfy ride, FZ FTW!
I have ridden my 1st gen FZ 6hrs and felt fine at the end of the day.

Other question is do you like bottom end torque, or winging it to make the power?

90+ ft-lbs of torque around 4000 rpm, FTW!

With slip-on and some tuning, more to come:

I have no experience with the bandit, but I do own an 07 FZ1 and it does have "buzziness" to it. It has very close handling characteristics to a sportbike though, without the canted forward position of a SS. Good luck in your decision.

One of the bike magazines did a comparison test last month. They concluded what others here have already said, Bandit 1250 - comfort & torque, FZ1 - more sport orientated & higher power. The FZ1 has factory hard bags available & the FI problems of the '06's & 07's have been addressed. Dale Walker (Holeshot Performance) has been developing a kit for the Bandit that brings the power close to FZ1 levels.
