Hit a light pole at high speed. Had some bad injuries, but was wearing a helmet luckily. His shoes were 238 ft away from the impact point at the pole. Battery was 268 ft away.

Near Downtown? if you do not know where the bumps are on that street it can cause some serious damage.

Especially if you panic and "ninja grip" the bars. Almost sounds like he target fixated on the pole and found it.

But either way, hope he makes it to learn, and ride another day.

I know someone who lives on Memorial further out of town and regularily has folks in his front yard because he lives by a curve. I guess it doesn't matter where on Memorial, the entire road requires caution.

Hope he isn't too badly injured, had good gear and will heal up soon.

Yeah, I live by Memorial and it's bumpy even in a cage. Here's to a speedy recovery. Anybody find an article or any more information on this?

Went by the site this morning - the streetlight fixture was knocked out of the beam, and is dangling by the wires. The pole was almost ripped off its foundation - the impact crushed the pole to less than half its regular diameter & bent it. And there's an embankment wall less than a few feet away. Can't believe the rider is alive.

saw this on the news last night - that bike was broken and bent and so was the pole.

Memorial Drive is nasty to drive even in a car.

I think I know who the rider is and is a very close friend. he is in the hospital at the moment awaiting surgery. I don't have many details on his condition.

Please pray for our friend.
