Re: I ordered the doo-doo for a TURBO project

More info.
Been conversing with Sam Dakin of Dakin Engineering, world record speed holder with turbo harleys.
We will be doing a "bolt on" kit and hopefully able to offer it shortly after the construction and tuning of mine is completed.
Stay turned, boosted Evo Harley 1200R coming at you.
10# boost, Evo motor w/ buell xb heads and S1 cams, SE ignition = 150 rear up in smoke

yeppers, but now I have changed direction. I cancelled the warner-ishi turbo set up (their turbo supply pricing is astronomically sky high and they wont budge for little ole' me) and will be taking the bike in to St00pid at Autologic (all Stainless piping and superb craftsmanship as you know) this friday to drop it off for the prototype build and install. Going with a garrett Gt15 and should easily drop down a smidgen lower than 150 HP on pump gas and 8# boost. who wants some ?
When completed and tuned, we will then start duplicating the kit for sale to the HP hungry HD crowd.

I also have a local company working on supplying mitsubishi turbos and piping. they will be made in taiwan, pricing is great, but I dunno if I wanna say its made in taiwan. I may seriously go with the more expensive other local route and be proud to say "Made in America". Like all the other Harley SHOULD be.

its all made in Taiwan,, everything.. all the steel for things in this world come from Asia.. so it isnt all American made.

not totally true, for example, when buying plumbing pipe fittings, you can get american made or other but the american stuff is costlier. Like a 1" 90 might be $1.50 difference in price, which adds up crazily fast and as the size increases, so does the "spread" between the two.
I doubt Asia supplies all the steel for everything in the world, we do have steel mills, ore plants and factories as well.
If you go to the Harley dealers, you will see all the chrome doo-dads and extras are all made overseas, but the difference is, at the Harley dealer, they charge you American pricing for it irritates me to see made in China on it and then be asked to pay premium.

Re: I ordered the doo-doo for a TURBO project

yeah youre right, not all steel comes from Asia, but with having to buy it every week, most people get the from overseas... not too much made here in the states anymore,, the cost is like you said, stupid high
