Girl used to ride with us on her Hyo 250; it would do over 100 easy, and seemed like it had a little better torque than the Ninja 250.

Resale on the Ninja is better tho, since not too many peeps know what a Hyo is...

Depending on how big you are the 650 is a fine starter bike, actually.

... too bad you can't give private instruction from your chair

While I'm not going to rush the bike buying process, I am rushing to get my MSF.. I'm very eager to correct what needs correcting and get my skillset back...

Just focus on the basics

countersteer
front brake is your friend
look thru the turn
friction zone
RELAX

And don't forget the mohawk for the helmet!

Kudos for getting on top of this. If the Spring Branch schedule doesn't work out for you, check Awesome's schedule online.

Countersteer I'm actually pretty decent at... learned that one early on... and yeah looking through the turns... if you don't look where you want to go.. you won't get there...

I think relaxing is my biggest problem on a bike right now... relaxing without getting LAXED is the key... Like any other skill it's aquired and takes patience/practice.. I'm willing to commit to motorcycles.. not behave like some 19 year old that buys a busa and then is in the obituaries the next day... Unlike some, I value my life and limbs.. (plus I've had too much tattoo work done to f*ck it all up!! ) haha

Biggest thing I see with people on sportbikes is getting lazy and locking the elbows.

Bend those elbows, support with the stomach, no death grip on the bars. Let the darn thing move around a bit, it will be fine!

Yeah the deathgrip is something I have to get over.. I don't lock out though.. my elbows are bent and a bit loose.. but I'm white-knuckling when I ride... again it's been years since I've been on a bike, so I'm "brand new" essentially....

If you can get the owner to bring it by the shop I'll do a visual inspection and test drive free of charge.
If not, give me a call and I can advise you of some things to look for on the '03 SV.

Only certified, specially trained Ninjas are allowed to use the deathgrip...

And you have to GET that head around and look...
