QUICK!!!! HELP!

Okay, so most of you know I just purchased an SV650s. I had a new tire put on today, the oil changed, and a couple other small things. I just rode 75 miles back to my school. I parked the bike and every so often I hear a ringing noise that is best heard if I put my ear right next to the gas cap. WTF?!?! It's just a steady "beeeeeeeeeeep" coming from within the bike, then after a minute it stops and will start again.

It's the fuel tank venting, nothing to freak out over.

Check the vent line coming from the bottom of the tank and make sure it's not crimped or plugged.

Another thought; carefully check if the noise is coming from the battery under the seat. It could possibly be overcharging.

the ringing could be the fuel pump...
if it is venting then try opening up the gas cap before and after a ride and see if it still does it??
isolate the issue... but you could have a crimped line...

Well everytime I pop the gas tank cap it stops immediately...so it would have to be the vent, right?

Edit: but after I close it, it does it a little while later....

it is venting then... but when you close it and it does it, it is pressurizing again... nothing to worry about... check the lines as patrick suggested and make sure they are run properly...

Cool, thanks again. One last thought: is the vent that makes it beep electronically controlled or is it just that it sounds like an electronic beep but it is air squeezing through a tight hole? If it is electronic and it does it constantly like it is, will it drain the battery?

Air pressure escaping, kinda like a ballon when you make it "squeal".

In that case, I kinda like the noise...maybe thiefs will think it'll blow if they touch it. Haha, I'll try to look at the lines after I ride to Magnolia AGAIN today It won't hurt it at all by riding if the lines are somewhat kinked, correct?

but he said it makes a 'beeping' noise.... i don't think air escaping a tight hole makes a beeping noise, a 'squel' yes, but beeping?

make sure you vent it though... open gas tank and let the air out... or you might get a case of vapor lock.... just check the lines before you go...
