bicycles on the street...

ok this is my second attempt making this thread since the power just went out here at work.

this topic has come up in a couple of threads, would like to know everyones opinion. Yes by law a bicycle can be in the street, however they are to obay all trafiic sign (which 99% of them i see don't)!! I think it is too dangerous, and just plain stupidity to ride in the street. They stop traffic and to me it's not safe for them to be blocking traffic on a 60mph 2 lane road. they should be on sidewalks!!

we should be more bicycle friendly in this state. we need bicycle paths on the side of our roadways and trails. Regardless of a cyclist inability to follow road signs, they ALWAYS have the right of way. if we had more bike paths, we would have fewer fat

I witnessed a bicyclist get hit on 1960 while riding on the shoulder of the road. She was lucky that it was only the mirror that got her. She was ok. We put her bike in the back of the truck and took her home. Could have been worse for sure. Bicycles belong on a sidewalk.

it's a honest good topic. you seem to throw a hissy fit everytime someone rides NEAR a bike path, so I am interested in where ppl think you bicycle ppl should belong. if you wanna start drama take it to another thread, nobody asked you to post here in this one!!

Good point. I remember a lot of bike lanes in Phoenix. I suspect it's because of the university. I'd be more likely to bike more if I felt I could travel down the road in relative safety.

Sort of a tangent, but are there only minimum speed postings on larger freeways? Do they apply to surface streets?

Oh yeah, and my NEVER rides on the street. It's sidewalkin' all da way for me. Too chicken to share the road. I see cars pass on the shoulder at ridiculous speeds on 1462 all the time. Some day, if it hasn't happened already, a bicyclist is gonna get hit. :/:

i ride on the street because it is rightfully mine. give me my space. it is also illegal for bikes to be on the sidewalks.

once again, you complain that cagers are so mean to motorcycles...now you are being the cager being mean to cyclists.

Here's a nice list--though mostly trite--of controversial subjects I pulled from a website.
Hmmm, vampire cults. I've never had to go to on that one. I'm not quite sure how to approach it.

Immigration
Literacy
Legalization of Marijuana
Mental Illness
Nuclear Proliferation
Obesity
Organ & Body Donation
Police Brutality
Poverty
Prayer in Schools
Privacy
Racial Profiling
Suicide
Sweatshops
Tobacco
Vampire Cults
Violence
Violence in Schools
Welfare
World Population
