I don't give much credit to the safety argument as to why cmra doesn't race in Houston. They've raced for years at a track that has killed several riders & would have gladly continued to race it even if the wall hadn't been moved.

Obviously there is more to it then that. They raced NPR this season.

I just spoke with CCS. They are trying to have 1 event at MSRH & 1 event as GSS. That is only if GSS can fix some saftey issues, if not then 2 events at MSRH. That is direct from CCS.

What about TWS (Texas World Speedway), are they having events there, so that means TWS (Texas World Speedway) is not going away?

turn 17 at MSR-H isnt bad, only when it rains but they did something like sandblasting a while back so its not that slick anymore when wet. i just see the wall at 17 as grass and the end of the track.

Yes there are plans to race TWS (Texas World Speedway) in 2008. That does not mean the track will be there for sure. If it sells, it may very well be gone. I can only assume they would reschedule somewhere else.

The first time this ccs stuff was mentioned for MSR-H I braught up the T-17 and nobody responded to it. I believe its a fixable issue. I can easilly see racers taking each other out in that turn and hitting the wall or something.

Exactly!

Let's also not forget Oak Hill, a track that was decrepit 10 years ago and has steadily deteriorated since then, i.e. they have to lay down Rhino lining before the races there just to keep it from coming apart.....

I've had more friends injured at that track then ALL of the others in the series combined, yet we STILL race there 3 times a year.

Why? Because it's an income generator rfor the club. The cost to the CMRA is negligible so safety is secondary.

Oak Hill is a joke i hate the fact the CMRA has to go there 3 times a year. If they repaved it and added some better run off safety, then i would go there 3 times a year. The fact there is no real pit area sucks. Last time out there was perfect example. It turned into a mud hole and IMO the bikes were tracking some mud onto the the track making it a safety issue if u were too wide in T1

I completely agree with you. I love that track more than any other that i have put 2 wheels on. They need to renovate the track and fix the problems and that could be the sweetest spot in Texas. If you build it they will come hehe.

If CMRA wants to be there. Do something about the place. "President"

Oakhill's days are numbered. The coal company in the area has the mineral rights to the property, and are poised to excercise them. In the end, Oakhill will be a memory. Maybe sooner than later, but eventually it will happen.

imagine a few guys bumping each other or someone stuffing another guy and they rub tires...someone is gonna go flying into that wall, and others will pile up behind.

it's not one of those turns to "give it your all". i don't know anybody that will go out there and race and not give it more than 100%.

i think besides turn 17......MSRH would be a BADASS place to hold a cmra event.

but again, i don't think it's about safety of certain turns there....i believe money comes to play, MSRH wants more than CMRA is willing to pay.

Thats exactly what i was talking about in a thread the other day when Buck mentioned CCS at MSR-H. Nobody wanted to talk about it then. Now its an issue in this thread. That turn has the potential for big danger. Its a fixable problem IMO. But I wouldn't hold one race there until its handled.

i would still rather race with that wall there, then to race at grandsport.

They can treat that turn 17 like the rattlesnake turns at Cresson. If they want to take the podium and position, they are gonna have to take it easy in that turns and finish the race without crashing. Someone will take the position or podium no matter how difficult or dangerour the track might be.
