that is cool as that the law is finally passed. i know ive gotten a bunk ticket over this before.

question is do we expect/how long will it take to go into effect?

this means the city would have to dig up all the old sensors and replace them with new ones. im pretty sure this isnt going up on top of their list of things to do...

The problem is, they don't have to do anything unless it breaks, or requires recalibration after Sept. 1, according to how it's written.

SECTION 2. Section 544.0075, Transportation Code, as added
by this Act, applies only to a detector that is installed, replaced,
calibrated, or recalibrated
in connection with a traffic-actuated
electric traffic-control signal on or after the effective date of
this Act.

I think all they would have to do is re-calibrate the threshold of the microprocessors that these sensors attach to so that they pick up lower signals. No way would they dig up and replace all of the sensors.

Yeah, I know. I realized I started this, but that was before I finally saw the way the Ordinance was written! It's not gonna do any good, unless they re-calibrate it after the effective date, install a new one, or repair a broken one. There is otherwise no incentive for them to re-calibrate the signals.

But..... as kinda mentioned before, the most we can do is constantly call in that the signal doesn't seem to work properly, then they will have to go out there to investigate, and do this AFTER Sept. 1. I wouldn't even mention I was on my bike, but in my car.

If they get enough calls on a particular intersection, they'll at the very least have to check it out. They will check the calibration, and likely try to tweak it just because, and by doing so....re-calibrate it to recognize motorcycles.
