Definition of a sponsor!

what would u expect from one?

just wanted mhs point of view on the subject at hand....

Sponsorship may be an arrangement to exchange advertising for the responsibility of funding a popular event or entity. For example, a corporate entity may provide equipment for a famous athlete or sports team in exchange for brand recognition. The sponsor earns popularity this way while the sponsored can save a lot of money. This type of sponsorship, known as cause-related, is prominent in the sports, arts, media and CHARITY sectors.

and yes i just copied and pasted i cant write that much

has anyone been blackballed by a sponsor?

locally, i dont think most places understand it.... if they did, these several stunt bikes that are at starbuck and all over town being seen and making impressions, would have a much longer sponsor list. :/:

Sponsorship can take on many forms.

In our industry, it's typically one of two things;

A manufacturer supplies a product, say a cage, to a high profile rider, say Joe / Prodigy, in the hopes that he'll positively represent the product and other aspiring stunters will want to emulate him by buying the product.
By having the product on his bike as well as decals, etc, the "sponsored rider" is a form of advertisement.

The other is a little more general; Say a shop supplies products / services, once again to a high profile rider, say Ty Howard.
They do so in the hopes that he'll positively represent their product / services and that other aspiring racers will want to emulate him by buying the product / services.
Because the "product" the rider has on his bike may not be readily recognizable or even seen, i.e. fork internals, it's especially important to have decals, patches, shirts etc,. to help identify the sponsor.
Once again the "sponsored rider" is a form of advertisement.

Many shops and manufacturers choose NOT to do sponsorships.
As an advertising method, it can be hit or miss, with no guaranteed results.
A more sure fired method is print, radio or internet advertising.

I sponsor several people in multiple aspects of the sport, including; drag racing, stunting, road racing big bikes, and TMGP.

At the end of the day, the return on investment is minimal at best.

I primarily do it as a way to give back to the sport, and to help aspiring / talented riders.
Years ago i had people who believed in me help me to achieve some goals, I'm just passing it on.

AND, I'm trying to get some help from my EBC contacts as we speak.
However, when you're asking for something for FREE, the powers that be aren't always on the same time table as the people on the recieving end.

Like I said, sponsorship isn't that great of a means of advertising / increasing the sponsor business AND there's always the added fun of having a sponsored rider on you.

There was a recent thread on the CMRA board about that very subject several months ago. Unfortunately many sponsored riders don't view the time / product being supplied to them as having a very real / tangible monetary value.

It's one of several reasons why many in the industry shy away from sponsoring people, ESPECIALLY unknowns or people with unproven track records.

Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric condition defined as recurrent episodes of significant disturbance in mood. These disturbances can occur on a spectrum that ranges from debilitating depression to unbridled mania. Individuals suffering from bipolar disorder typically experience fluid states of mania, hypomania or what is referred to as a mixed state in conjunction with depressive episodes. These clinical states typically alternate with a normal range of mood. The disorder has been subdivided into Bipolar I, Bipolar II and cyclothymia, with both Bipolar I and Bipolar II potentially presenting with rapid cycling.
