8/18 MSRH thanks

Great day on Saturday despite a bit of dust on the track form recent construction efforts. Open track from 8 - 10am, then we tried to blow the track off with trucks and the sweeper, then the rain fell. Dried fairly quick then we were back on and the track was a bit better. I did manage some mid 40's but with the dust it wasn't the day to beat personal bests. Was nice with only 15 bikes on the track, lots of open track to play with. I had a blast playing with Shannon, Jamie, and Jimmy. Jimmy you leave the door open going into T4 and you can count on an inside pass when ever I'm around!!! Was a great day with some fantastic riding. There was passing in places I've never though of before. I got Sheets inside on the keyhole, someone else on the outside of T13, even made a pass IN the bus stop. Great to have guys who weren't spooked and just gettin' after it. We'll do another on for sure. Only one run off all day and no crashes!! Lots of guys did make new personal bests, several into the mid 40's, way to go guys!! Sucked that some of those who requested spots didn't show up, you know who you are so don't be whinning when you are denied future trackdays unless you man up and pay up........I'll be sure to mention your names when we are forced to go to a pre-pay system like all the rest, then you'll lose your cash when you don't show, instead of mine.

On other developments at MSRH.......
Asphalt should go down on Tuesday for the new Turn 1, and T17 modification, and 30' of run off in the diamonds edge complex. A few other modifications to come too. They are also supposed to address the bumps going into the carousel. Hope the rain stays away, and we should have a better track in a month or so when it cures.
Also of note, CCS has been in contact about race dates for next year, so we MAY have sanctioned racing in Houston next year. (fingers crossed)
And finally, there are plans for a bike shop in the works AT the track, more on that as it develops. Thanks to those who made it out for a great day.

It was a great day. I don't know if I managed my personal best, but I sure felt faster than usual. I had fun playing with Larry on the other SV out there. Even with the break for rain I managed 3 hours on the track. Can't beat that .

Buck, let's do that advanced rider deal again.

Oh, one more thing. I have learned more this time than before. I still need to work on coming out of dimonds edge. I can't get a good drive out of there. However, I found out that you can carry alot more speed in turn 7 (The Sweeper) and I even made few passes on outside there going into the bus stop. That was fun .

Yea he took the left one off with a special tool last track day called "THE KEYHOLE" We then removed the right one to match - we used a wrench cause Buck wouldn't let him run the track backwards to remove the right one. Buck - Had a great time - Thanks

I was scared it was going to rain more that it did. I kept my eye on the weather report all night before it seemed and in the morning. I was up till 4a.m. still putting my wrecked bike back together from the last time I was out there.

I had a great day even though it my bike handled like POS! Turns out the frame is slightly tweaked. I should have taken the whole thing apart and put the spare on. Something spooky going on in my front end too. Forks never dampened proper making lefties. My foot pegs and bars vibrated violently down the straights. I was scared my front tired was going to just come off at anytime haha.

Well I kept it on 2 wheeles. Got the lines down, and had a good time. One fast rider that I followed..... told me later, that I might have even broke under a 1:50 in the last session.

Also like to thank Jimmy for him letting me test his 636 with the Ohlins and other goodies. I felt like a rocket on that machine and plan to race my own ASAP.

thanx Buck!

Yea, now I am not individual anymore and I am just like everybody else. :eh: But I still had fun the bike looks really different to me without the mirrors. I miss my mirrors.

Anyway it was weird on the 3rd session or so. I kept hearing a whack. Then again another whack. I thought something was broke on my suspension. Came into the pits looks down by the front wheel and low behold I see my lap timer hanging there. Well it has lots of rubber marks on it but it still worked. I wonder if it could have got caught between my caliper and my wheel that would have been a NO fun stoppie.

P.S. Wish CMRA would give it more thought.

would they move the cement barriers on the last turn for a race there? that wouldn't be fun to have to bike take each other out and slide into that wall.
