Camera in Moto Helmet

I was wondering how many, or if any, of you use camera's in your helmets? and which kind you use? (Except Brandon, I already know that he does and which kind he is using. )

If you don't personally, but know of someone, that's good enough, what do they use?

Thanks for any info that you can provide...

Azylum - he cut his helmet and put his digi cam in it after seeing my video logs. His cut out is smaller than mine and its on the left/front side of the helmet. Sneaky sneaky!

PS. My helmet cam/mod was my first attempt. Now that I understand the helmet design better I have better ideas.

As soon as you cut the helmet... you killed the structural integrity of it.

That's a wasted helmet now...

i knew someone was going to say that. if a little 1" hole on the offset of the center compromises the structural integrity of the unit, then the helmet wasnt worth a to begin with.

exactly. you cant do anything really to a helmet without sacrafing its integrity. any cutting, sanding, drilling, etc etc will ruin it.

Have you ever read an article on the structural integrity of a helmet?

If it falls from just 3 feet and lands on concrete, it's impact absorbtion ability is dimished by something like 75%!

So, I'm willing to bet that a hole cut into the helmet is going to compromise it's protective abilities.

well heres a scientific experiment for you:

hows about i take a 2x4 and hit you across the skull with it WITH A HELMET ON with the hole in it.

then you take the same 2x4 and i smack you across the noggen WITHOUT the helmet.

think itll make a difference?

i know, i know. you mean well. its all good brudda.

Go ahead and try to hit me with a 2x4... I've got even better protection than a helmet!!!

Seriously though... you have seriously compromised the helmet. There is not a chance I would ride with one like that, but if that's all you value your brain... so be it.

99.999% of the time when someone goes down, its a rolling crash, not a head on collision with pavement, car, wall, etc. even tho, its got shock absorbtion from natural human reflexes.

btw, i dont ride hard enough or fast enough for this to matter. if a car hits me from behind or from teh side, me loosing my teeth will be the least of my worries.

Let's see those stats... if you're claiming they are true, you must be able to sustantiate them.

I thought most helmet impacts were frontal? Mike, did you really cut a hole in your lid? Wow dude, what if you wreck with that camera in your helmet? Are you going to end up swallowing that thing?
