Cat owners...

I have a 6 month old female cat name Gixxer. We’ve had her for about 3 months now. Well, we brought another cat home Tuesday. A 2 month old male kitty. Well Gixxer does not like the fact that we brought a new cat home. She has been hissing at the kitty and at us, when we try to pick her up. Not only is she hissing but she’s clawing at the kitty and at us now. She’s also getting on top of the kitty and biting him. Will Gixxer ever get along with our new kitty? I had to keep the kitty in a different room while im at work, so Gixxer wouldnt kill him. Gixxer is not spayed just yet. Can that be the reason why she’s being mean?

Just google the question and you will find it. Something about putting a blanket in with one cat and then moving the blanket were the other cat smells it over time they will get along.

We already have an appointment to spay her next Wednesday. But she has been so ugly, not only with the kitty but with infants. The first time my best friend came over with her 8 mth old baby, I catch Gixxer getting ready to claw the baby. That concerns me too. Im getting her declawed too.

Female cats usually are very territorial, especially if she may be getting ready to go into heat for the first time. Some cats are genuinely mean, i have a female cat we saved from a pack of dogs, she was about 6 months old when we brought her in, and she is the BIGGEST in the world... one minute she wants you to pet her then she just turns on you and bites you, never been able to break her, she is very independent and HATES all the other cats we have... sometimes you just can't break them...

If you get her de-clawed you can NEVER EVER let her outside... once she is de-clawed she looses all her defenses and won't be able to climb anything to get away or swat them to let them know she means business...

give them both time and they will learn to live with one another, might not be best friends but she will eventually leave him alone when she realizes hes not going anywhere...

Thanks. Gixxer will just have to deal with another cat being part of the family. And hopfully, she quits her attitude soon and get along with the new kitty. If not, Im nervous that Tony will do something to her...

dont ever de-claw your cat, what if someone took your teeth out ...

took my cat a few months to learn to get along with the other one ...

I have two male cats and they get along great. They fight every now and then but it's just in fun. They lay down together all then time. Since my house is empty while I am at work it, getting the second cat was the best thing I ever did. No more lonely kitty, and yes, it was showing that he was lonely.

Just give them time, they will get along.

She is definitely getting de-clawed and so will the kitty once he gets older. Hopefully spaying Gixxer will help her from being so hyper. O and the crying when she's in heat, its horrible. Poor baby..

Well, I got home last night and let the kitty out of the room to run around. Gixxer seems like she will be okay with the kitty. She's not hissing as much but she still popping him on the head. lol I let the kitty run around the apt with Gixxer while im work today, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks everyone..

Thanks everyone

Glad things are better, but that baby thing NO cat is worth the possibility of injuring a baby, can U imagine how much a cat would hurt a baby with its claws, but now U have it declawed so thats not a problem but they still have sharp teeth, worrys me, how could u live with urself if something awfull was to happen.

I would feel awful and feel like SH*T, if Gixxer was to injure a baby. Im thinking, if Gixxer is not bitting the kitty anymore, she will not bite anyone. But then again, the kitty has been at our place longer then a week now and the baby was only over that one time. But I will definitely, keep an eye on Gixxer when any baby comes over again and watch how she acts...
