Hurricane Erin and Dean

So who's gonna take their bike when they call for an evacuation, and where you headed ?

I'd tell my wife to get on the bike and i'd book it to east to new orleans, since erin is over by corpus christi....

but dean might hit us all, so i might book it north and out run it ....

instead of getting stuck in traffic with all those cars ....

just weave around em..

+1, i have insurance, my house is about 3 blocks from 290 and during Rita, T and I watched all the stopped traffic just sit there for countless hours. it was horrible and i was sitting at home in my garage.

I'll never leave!

I will bring me, my cars, bike, and close family up to work while I get payed 24/7 overtime in a building rated at cat5. and play on the internet the whole time. (my job is in the IT department of shell and under no circumstances can our network go down.) During rita, before I got this kickass job, I was at home smoking it up laughing at those fools on the freeway. (gotta stock up on pot cause when everyone gets back in town you can make a killing.):laughing6:laughing6 :laughing6:laughing6

It all depends on where you live. I have no clue where Webster is, but if you are near the coast you're more likely to want/need to leave than those of us that are farther away and seemingly out of harm's way.

Most of my camping gear doubles as emergency/evac gear (including food and water) and I know it all fits on the bike. I also know the Strom can handle ditches, water crossings (within reason) and trails/woods/offroad.

I'm set.

all depends on what your worried about... If my house floods. Well...your looking at the water level in houston being somewhere near the the elevated downtown. :-)

...course you have to question the thought process of bulding a city around a bayou, then putting in basements, underground shops etc.:icon_bigg

The only way out of this area is on a bike. I rode out for Rita. Wish I would of had a tank cam caus is saw some Sh8t. I rode out to Boerne Tx north of San Antonio and it takes 4hrs normaly during the Rita mess I made it in 6hrs, so not bad. If I ever do it again I'll be on the bike.

If it turns out to be anything like Rita....I'll take my chances to sitting at home vs. sitting in some BS traffic jam.....now, if I wait until the last minute and watch the news to find out that contraflow lanes actually did there job (which I doubt...we're talking about traffic engineers and we live in the free flowing city of Houston:icon_bigg), then I MAY consider....but still highly doubtful:eh:
