Apartment - Options

My 12 month lease is ending in December and I want to look at getting another apartment (with garage - mandatory) or buying a small house.

I found alot of properties 1 acre, 3 bedroom house, with huge shop for $36,000 .... and a few others like that around the alvin area .

any suggestions on where to look ?

I can get a loan for a house no problem if needed .. I'd prefer to keep renting, and I can pay up to $750-800 a month rent .. Right now I pay $500 for a 600 sq ft apartment, with 1 parking space ....

House I moved out of in Oregon was 3000 sq ft ... so i'm kinda claustrophobic ..... haha

don't buy a home. there's a lot of responsibilities that come with it....unless you are prepared for it, then go for it. but at an early age, i'd just rent for now. if something breaks, call the landlord or maintenance guy.

I'd have to agree with busa, my father told me you can never go wrong with Real Estate.

yeah, not only is time consuming, it's money consuming also!! could be fun, but then again!!!!

while you're only what, 20? just keep renting for another 8 or so years.. unless you are very well established in your carreer and plan on staying there!

I bought my house at 24...

With the way the market is now, you'll be able to get into a decent house for real cheap. Interest rates aren't at their best, but if you buy now and then refinance in a year or so when the prime rate drops, you'll be living large.

Besides, let's say you drop $7,500 over the next 12 months on rent. What do you get for that? Nothing... renting is a complete waste of money in my opinion.

You buy a small house and drop $10,000 over the next 12 months and decide to sell it. Let's say you get the same for what you paid... you're only out the closing costs of the house. If you buy now when the market is down, you're chances of making a profit are much greater in a year or two.
