do you use the regular plugs you ram through the tire then pull out and they leave two sticky parts hanging out of the tread, or those weird cone shaped ones you insert with a special tool?
either of those (both you can do with the tire mounted) and I'd probably replace the tire as soon as possible. If you dismount the tire and patch it from the inside it should be as good as new, but usually if the tire has a couple thousand miles on it and youre gonna be taking it off the rim you might as well put a new one on there for the hassle.

i use the regular ones that you can get at any corner store or walmart and they have worked fine...if you can find the "speed plug" (cone shaped ones) those are supposed to be better
