S. Mason Rd. Katy is a death trap!

I expected it to happen, but not so soon. Riding down S. Mason, I was slowing down to make a U-turn. It was night, my turn signal was on, but I was using engine breaking, so the driver behind me (I'm assuming it was the same vehicle that was behind me a few seconds ago when I last looked) either didn't notice that I was slowing down to turn, or just didn't care. I glanced over just as their headlights were about a foot and a half away from my leg and I swerved to my left to avoid getting swiped on my right, thought I had more room. Hit the curb of a median and I'm sure I don't have to tell you how well that ended. Guy never stopped, let alone slowed down. I won't fault the good seminarians behind us who stopped instead of following the car to get their license plate number. They helped me get my bike off the street and made sure I was okay. Black eye, bruised ribs, and sore neck are all I've got to show for my little dump, knock on wood, but my baby didn't fare quite so well. I have a feeling it would have been much worse if I wasn't wearing my gear, so I'm thanking my lucky stars and I know from experience now why ATGATT is so important and I won't be traveling back down Mason any time soon. That road is dangerous as . While I was waiting for the police for an hour(They never showed up) there were almost two more accidents at the exact same place.

The internet has ruined me. Those shots of your front wheel and engine cover made me cringe harder than road rash.

Glad you are OK and your bike doesn't look that bad actually. Just something about that first picture.

Sucks, but glad you're ok. It's safer to use the brake, even if you're only using it to activate the brake light.

Even if I'm not using my brake I will bump it a few times to get the brake light to flash. A flashing light catches more attention than a steady on light

That's why I have an obnoxious "blinks three times then stays lit" brakelight.

Those catch my attention even if I'm 4 lanes over at an intersection

Ordered parts to fix the gear shift and peg bracket on my way home from the docs and ordered a bulb for my rear TS. Hopefully that fixes my signal problem. Rear TS is blown, the front comes on, but doesn't blink, and high beams aren't working. Fuse is still good though. Handle bar is slightly bent and will need replaced. I'm looking into my options for that now. Other than that, everything else is cosmetic damage, so if anyone knows where I can find some cheap (even temp) parts/fairings, I'd greatly appreciate it.

His revenge is bittersweet. My body and ego may be bruised, but he's still dead, and if his friends decide to dart out in front of me, I'll run their over too.

Agreed. Just fix what you need to and ride the out of it. It's a 300, not a show bike. Not digging at it, just saying, it makes no sense to spend a bunch of money on cosmetics that you could spend on track days

Motodynamic makes them for < $100. It has integrated blinkers if you want to use those.
