Maybe car manufacturers can do something to the products to curb the issue. Kinda like the Gentleman's agreement for motorcycles in the 90's where they limited bikes to 186mph, manufacturers should come together and say look this is for the safety of our customers let's just do this on our own so people can enjoy the machines and roads for generations to come.
Once you open pandora's box there will be no going back. These liberal law makers need to keep their job so what else can they outlaw after phones in the name of safety?

Not. One. Single. Issue.
It's a matter of time until you have one at the most inconvenient of times, which will be distracting.,,on top of the fact that using your hands is not what distracts people when they drive and talk.

and they'll be off the road after the phones. Maybe not immediately, but they're pretty unsafe and each time one wrecks it's costing resources and holding up traffic, plus costing insurance companies and damaging peoples vehicles.

30 times more likely to die is not acceptable. We need to outlaw them like seatbelt laws.

Minus the fact that billion dollar manufacturers wouldn't let the liberal Jew lawmakers ever outlaw motorcycles, and then there's Flop and perhaps a couple other Floridians that will lobby to keep texting and driving legal...

Kinda an uphill battle, and by uphill I mean scaling a vertical sheet of ice with tennis shoes

Pretty sure cell phone manufacturers aren't thrilled about this whole thing either. They could easily make the phone go into "drive mode" automatically. There's a reason they don't.
Lobbying only goes so far especially when it's a "safety issue"

BTW texting and driving is illegal in all of florida. They also have red light cameras at every intersection. You and Bevo should move there. I hear the weathers nice...

Cell phone manufacturers are pushing these laws through!!! It's bad publicity for them to sit idle while people are having accidents/dying using their product.

They want their customers to be safe...and unlike you are aware that driving and texting is not safe

Well it won't do anything for your serious lack of coordination.

I can see the concept of PR is foreign to you. The technology to make a phone automatically shut off when driving has existed for quite some time...

I know hopefully I don't decide to go buy one of those deathtraps before it's outlawed for my safety.

Nobody! that's the point. If the manufacturers actually cared, they would make them shut off automatically-no option to use it or not use it.

distracted driving makes you about 25x more likely to be involved in an accident

that being said, we don't need any more laws.
