Not a very good analogy. Try riding the bike hands free using your voice to control it and get back to me...
It's a perfect analogy for you. If hands free is distracting for you, then your brain must have melted down daily when you were riding in traffic. Please don't chew gum when you drive, please

After all is the persons hand being on the phone really the issue? I think it's just they can't concentrate on driving and talking at the same time...

Riding a motorcycle makes your 30 times more likely to die. In a society where we need to micromanage peoples cell phone and seat belt use, it only makes sense to ban motorcycles on public roads as the next step.

Besides you irritate the majority when you "split like a ", have large group rides, ect...so since as a society we are solving things as a majority and not as what should be a personal liberty, motorcycles would be banned in a heartbeat.
The flaw in your logic here is that motorcyclists assume the risk they put on themselves. Drivers aren't assuming the risk that they put upon other people from their own actions.

Riding a bike is not endangering anyone except the rider more so than driving a car.

Texting and driving is endangering everyone. Including the driver texting...

It's not hands free in itself. It's connection issues and all the like. It's just easier to answer the phone like a normal person.

Your just looking at the face value. The big picture is that the gobment has been deemed as needed to step in and micromanage your decisions as an adult. In other words overstepping their boundary.
Motorcycles will be next on the list.

Then there's no way you could safely and effectively operate a motorcycle. You have to use both arms, both hands, both feet, sometimes sequentially, sometimes simultaneously. No way you could do that effectively if hands free in a car is so distracting to you.

Exactly why we need to make them illegal. Too much multitasking to concentrate on driving.

No different than cell phones. Some people can drive fine using them and some can't.
The only fair thing to do is make them all illegal.

Yeah but it's also a fact that motorcycles are involved in more accidents. Probably too much of a distraction with all those controls you mentioned. Way more distracting than talking on the phone.
So yeah if we banned phones we should have banned motorcycles years ago.

I agree that I want the govt involved in our lives as little as possible.

If there were a solution that ended texting and calling while driving while keeping big brother out, full steam ahead lets go. But I haven't heard any ideas along these lines. Maybe car manufacturers can do something to the products to curb the issue. Kinda like the Gentleman's agreement for motorcycles in the 90's where they limited bikes to 186mph, manufacturers should come together and say look this is for the safety of our customers let's just do this on our own so people can enjoy the machines and roads for generations to come.

I've had it for 3 months, elapsed time usage is probably around 70-80 hours, been through 2 decent storms.

Not. One. Single. Issue.
