Buildin a fiddy...

Ok so the mini-bug has bit me. Took a few spins on a buddies and now I wanna build my own to wreck! I'm doing a good bit of shopping around on eBay. My idea is to build an awesome rolling chassis first. So here go my questions:

There are a ton of frames on eBay with a 2" stretch, would this make it harder/easier to stunt? I know it will make it easier to turn. Never seen anyone with a stretched 50 before.

Brakes, is it really worth it to upgrade to disk brakes? I think the brake extension for leverage might work good for me.

Forks, what should I look for and what should I aviod. Other than obvious damage.

Engine, this is the biggest ? right now. Stock or modified? I'm going to "dress it up" either way. But should I get the upgrade kit? It should wheelie on the stock 50 right?

Clutch, should I add one? Or keep it Auto?

HB is going to be a must, so no questions there.

I am planning on getting different handle bars also, anyone have pros/cons of the mutitude available?

Thats it for now... I'll have more questions when parts start flooding in.

dude i was gonna do this. but decided not to...

the easiest thing to do is buy a stocker, and throw on a big bar kit, bigger footpegs, stiffer springs, street tires, and POSSIBLY a handbrake. then your ready to roll.

no need for clutch unless you really want to, and disk brakes are useless.

stock engine is the way to go.

go stock frame, no need to upgrade.

and people will try to sell forks with bent fork legs a lot, watch out. same deal with frames...

Yeah, too many write-ups at work for being on MH.com and not working :icon_bigg

Anyway, I'll post up some pics of examples later tonight. Shoot me a PM, I see that you got a new Kawi!

I want to build it ground up so I can customise as I go.

Street tires are also a given. I'll possibly buy the forks from websites other than eBay. 50stunt has been my main rescource for parts/ideas so far.

ive built 2 50s from the ground up here i what i normally find the best

motor:
stock honda motor with wiring and cdi will run ya $250-325. Make sure its a HONDA

frame/swinger/etc:
if you check over at planetminis you can find deals alot of the time on rollers. The last deal i saw was like $450 shipped for complete roller

as for your questions
frame:
if you can get a cheap stock honda, wont hurt

brakes:
my drums grab just fine, unless u want to try disc in the front

forks:
get +1s with heady duty springs and delrin bushing if possible

motor:
i prefer stock ive been riding stock for a while and it has the power i need
now if your looking to accelerate faster or cruising streets you might want an 88

clutch:
keep it stock for staters

bars:
bbr kit is good for staters but the bars bend easy
if your doing a true ground up get a clamp and the bmx bars in the style you want. BILLET THROTTLE is a MUST !!!

your best bet is get a roller since it will have all the misc bolts u will need

but what stunt-r said it right , a stocker with add ons is the best

to you guys!

Thanks for the good advice, I'll get this project rolling weekend after next. I'll start watching craigslist.com for a cheap stocker. I'll post up the picks of what I'm thinking before I buy so you can .

yea i have to agree with greg, on alot of it. I have bought one from stubbs called a vento pitbull, knock off of the honda. It's 4sp 108cc with clutch, the swing arm is extended which makes it alot harder for me to balance on it. Juice has riden the bike before and said the same. Disc brakes to me are kind of useless, the one I am working on has them on the front. I don't care because I am not doing stoppies on it. I would try craigslist for sure, can find a stock one or try houstonmotocross.com they have a good classified section to find a 50.
