Dayum. It does look cracked and welded near the lip.

The first pic just looked like axle grease may have leaked out, but now it does look cracked to me.

i still think grease. as the whel spins it flows outward and sometimes around, i have seen this many times and thought it was a crack just to walk up and touch it only to get grease on my finger

Yeah, there is definitely grease there. You can tell by how dirty that rim is. The dust is acting like oil-dry and soaking it up. :laughing6

Definately tire soap, or grease. No way a crack like that would hold air, or have enough structural integrity to support the weight of the assembly if it were inflated with a tube, which in itself is impossible because of the design of the rim.

I could go on with the differences between split rim, split ring, widowmaker, bud, or unimount rim designs, but I won't.

I'll go in on that bet with you!

I saw a rookie truck driver back in Georgia curb the RRO tire on the trailer and bend the rim up so far towards center, that it covered three of the lugnuts. It sounded like a cannon went it went off, and launched the tire about 50 feet to the side. The guy who got called out to change the rim had to drill multiple holes in the bend, and then beat it back down with a sledge. Unfortunately, he didn't have a bluewrench...

So if it "looks like it needs to be inspected", then it is not at random. Am I correct?
