Do you debate with harley dudes much?

I swear these harley guys are the most brainwashed patrons of a comany I have ever seen. They kid will me about riding a goldwing and I ask them to name one thing their harleys do better. Faster no. Turn better no. Better stereo no. More comfortable no. More obnoxious pipe yes. So I say you ride a harley just because they are louder? I tell them they should cut their muffler off their car and then they can drive a loud car too.

I swear harley davidson is one of the biggest cults in the world. I mean people freak'n tatoo that brand on their bodies BIG. It's a just motorcycle company and not even that good of one. But they will buy a tshirt no matter where they are. In downtown pos of chicago with gangbangers everywhere they buy a tshirt. Lubbock texas where there is nothing but dirt they buy a tshirt.

I use to be a member of the cult I have had 4 harleys, one indian and 2 choppers. And then I snapped one day and said wow my gixxer will do 167(with 10% speedo lost) and my wing will do about 134 ish. My harley would be shaking apart trying to hit 120.

So do ya'll debate with these cultists or do you say "yea dude you are right harleys are the best bike ever built".

You can't argue with an idiot. Let it go bill. When I use to go to sturgis with my dad. He has a road king police bike and I had a Honda vtx1300. Every year the Harley broke down or something started to fall apart. The little Honda never had a single issue. Just start it and ride

Everyone has their own likes. Some people don't care about performance. Some people care about image. Some people care about what the brand stands for, or what the bike means to them.

I know what you are saying. It's fustrating because they are so adamant about how good they are.

I never understood arguing with someone about what kind of bike THEY ride. The people that do seem to have a need to justify their own choice rather than the choice that the other person has made.

^This!!!

I never argue the point of whats better or worse with people. For a couple of reasons. First... does no good. They will believe what they want to believe no matter what I say. Second... Whats right for you, may not be right for me! As long as you aren't spending my money to ride a your bike then its no skin off my back. I don't care if you ride a busa or a harley. Its all about you and what you like, since its your pocketbook.

Arguing with a Harley owner over stuff like that is kind of like arguing with a Trump supporter over politics. So, yea just agree and feel better than them for knowing the real truth.

I don't really care what other's do with their money. I buy and ride what I like and they do the same.

To me, HD doesn't build a bike I would remotely want. I don't like a cruiser's seating position, therefore, I have no reason to get one, which is 90% of their market. They make a few standard seating bikes, but I don't like how they feel either.

I gave up arguing with a brainwashed HD rider, though. I learned to just walk away. If I can't, I have fun jacking with them until I them off. I got pretty good at that over the years.

A quote from a HD owner that I found today on a forum that I'm on.... Pretty much sums up most every "hardcore HD owner".

Quote:
you need the HD , it doesn't mater what metric you buy ( apart from triumph ), or how good it is compared to the Harley , it will always be a poor substitute ...even if its generally a better bike , that may sound weird if your new to bikes and HD but its true .
the iron is a great starting point to Harley Davidson ownership , you become part of something , HD riders nod or wave at each other when they pass each other , or come and chat to you about your bike when its parked , specially if you change a few things on it . , its kind of a magnet , you wont get that camaraderie or interest on a metric ..
( apart from a triumph) which are kind of accepted as cool
This was in response to:

Hello All,

I'm new to the forum (and new to motorcycles in general). I've been looking at bikes for the past few months and have my heart set on a used '09 883. However, I have a friend who can get me one of a deal on a '12 Honda Shadow Phantom. Can any of you sell me on why I'd want an 883 over the Phantom? This will be my first bike and am looking to make a purchase in the next few weeks...I appreciate the help and hope to posting here for years to come (can you tell I have my heart set on the 883)

Thanks!

I worked with a guy who was prospecting for the San Jacinto High Rollers who told me that you could not do a burnout on a Harley.
He said they had too much torque and would flip the motorcycle if you tried.
I asked him if that's why they rode them so slow.
He just got mad and walked away. lol

I was sitting on the side the road taking a break in the hillcountry with some harley friends of mine. A group of hawgs turned the corner and decided to deafen us with their pipes as they went by. I had to say when they went by "alll that racket and no go and still super slow."
