Exclamation Anyone Want To Rewire My Bike?

I'm seeking a good wiring expert with custom bikes, that is willing to rewire my bike in my garage. I recently cut my factory harness out because it has been hacked to bits many many times by other shops. I will pay well for a good job.

I just want to exhaust my options before having to take it to a local shop to get it done. Maybe one of you all needs the cash and knows how to do these kind of things. Cold drinks, meals, and cash are what I'm willing to provide.

Bike is a 1994 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic. Nothing is stock on it.

I don't.

I've talked to several shops and they claim there are many basic harnesses out there for custom bikes. They've also told me they can make custom harnesses from scratch. I'm too paranoid to try to do this myself, so that is why I'm reaching out to you all.

I would definitely start with a basic harness and work of of it. Its doable yourself, but you have to take your time.

I'm doing away with a lot of the original plugs. I'd like to keep it clean with minimal wires and straight runs. Still would like someone else to come do it for me though as I just don't have the time to fool with it these next few months. Eager to ride again.

However/whoever you do it. One tip to keep in mind is to have a diagram drawn up before and or after of how the wiring has been done. Will save you time and headache in the future should you want or need to make any additional changes.

Can I?

Yes. Do I want to? No. Wiring is about my least favorite thing to do, but I've redone the harness on three different bikes.

Don't be afraid of it, it's not hard, just tedious. Print out your stock wiring diagram poster-style. I like to split it up over four 11x17 sheets, then trim then inner margins and tape it all together. Figure out what you're removing (switches, accessories, etc) and go over your chart with correction fluid (White-out) one wire at a time. If you're bypassing things like security modules you'll need to figure out which wires send power and draw in the new connection on the diagram. At the end, you'll have a very simplified road map.

The attachment is the stock diagram for my Venture (split harness pictured above) which includes AM/FM radio, CB, passenger intercom, cruise control, lighting module, and air compressor for air-ride suspension. I bet I cut 70% out of that diagram before attacking the harness.

Seriously, Motogadget. This is exactly the perfect application. Dodgy harness, carb bike. Get an M-unit, cable kit, maybe some bar switches and a gauge.
