Very Nice! BTW one of my favorite books is Skunk Works by Ben Rich. It is about the Stealth Bomber but spends a fair amount of time on the SR-71 project as well and U-2 spy plane as well. I read it a couple of years back just before heading to SoCal for my grandmother's funeral. I mentioned reading Skunk Works to a friend of the family. Turns out, he owned the company which developed and delivered several of the major electrical components for the SR-71 and Stealth Bomber projects. Small world.

SR-71. I ain't Tom, but that's the bird. I initially thought that's what it was, but wasn't confident.

Why does the first pic look like a picture of a picture?

No digital cameras back then.
Think they used those big accordion-looking things with the black powder flashes.

Tom is right, old picture with no way to get to my computer, I think it might have been 1988 or so, I was looking thru some old photos from my flying days.

That's cool you got to sit in it, I've never even seen one. Awesome plane and one of these days I want to see it up close.

Felt the same way about the B58 Hustler they had in Galveston for a while. It was cool to see one

The Blackbirds were retired around 1989 but were un-retired and flew until 1999

Yes, I was trying to think of something that came out in the late 80s. not something still flying so I was thinking nighthawk. There are a few awesome books former pilots have written about the SR and their missions.

There's no way that pic of you is from the 80's....maybe the 1950's.
