Texans 53-man roster projection

Here's what I believe the Texans 53-man roster will look like when final roster cuts are made official on September 3rd.

QB (2) - Osweiler, Savage WR (5) - Hopkins, Strong, Fuller, B. Miller, Mumphery RB (5) - L. Miller, A. Blue, J. Grimes, A. Hunt, T. Ervin FB (1) - Prosch OL (9) - Newton, Su'a-Filo, Mancz, Allen, Clark, Lamm, Aboushi, Bergstrom, Slade TE (3) - Fiedorowicz, Griffin, Anderson DL (6) - Watt, Wilfork, Covington, Reader, Dunn, Heath OLB (4) - Clowney, Mercilus, Simon, Scarlett ILB (4) - Cushing McKinney, Bullough, Peters CB (6) - Joseph, Jackson, Johnson, Bouye, James, Nelson S (5) - Demps, Hal, Pleasant, Moore, Dillon Specialists (3) - Lechler, Novak, Weeks PUP (1) - D. Brown Toughest decisions: 1. Keeping only two quarterbacks and letting Brandon Weeden go. In Bill O'Brien's two season in Houston, he has used eight different starting quarterbacks (Fitzpatrick, Mallett, Savage, Keenum, Hoyer, Yates, Weeden, Daniels), so carrying only two seems risky. But Weeden is not developmental, and while he is likely to find work elsewhere, if the Texans are forced to make their way down their quarterback depth chart for a third straight season, O'Brien and his staff have proven they can figure it out with whatever quarterbacks are available. 2. Devon Still Still has been working with the first unit much of the preseason, yet there he was in Thursday's preseason finale taking 20 snaps with the group of reserves. He looks the part of an NFL player in terms of size and athleticism, but it hasn't translated on the field in practice or in games for the Texans. They were impressed with Heath, an undrafted free agent signing from Michigan State. 3. Terrence Mitchell Mitchell has NFL experience with the Cowboys and Bears and was essentially in a fight with Nelson for the last several weeks for the final spot on the roster. Nelson just made a few more plays and could develop into a helpful player.
