Daily Craig: Rivals?

Tonight the Texans and Cowboys finish the preseason. Much is made of how big a deal the two playing each other is. Hardly. Texans fans make more of it than Cowboys fans do. Both sides have to care to make it a rivalry. History tells us the TEXANS BEAT THE BOYS in the Houston franchise's first ever real game. After that, history is foggy. Like Tony Romo after his upteenth trip to the X RAY ROOM. Those of us in the Houston area are fairly certain the 2 teams should play each other EVERY SEASON in real games. The NF- might figure that out some year too.

Across the way from the C&C Ranch we have 10 acres of mowed grass. It is home this time of year to PEE WEE FOOTBALL TEAMS. The players are cute and the coaches and dads scream and blow whistles. The major issue is hydration and keeping the kiddos from CONCUSSIONS. I was asked the other day about the subject of concussions. Not from a contact sport, but rather an Olympic sport involving no helmets and plenty of contact. Contact with water.

How is diving off a 30 foot platform and hitting the water head first at 35mph a safe sport? Can't we stop the madness? It has to hurt. We don't get too worked up over the diving because the divers appear just fine and immediately jump into a hot tub or a salt free shower. We can't tell if they sweat. i want to alert all swim teams and I think protective head gear should be worn. If the divers suddenly try out for football next season it may be too late to help.
