Corner working... any pointers for a newbie...

I have read the info online and am familiar with the sport but I am looking for any pointers to make me the best I can be at it for the sake of the riders. Any help is appreciated.

keep your eyes open, don't focus on one side all the time. i was so focused on the entry to the corner my first time cornerworking, i didn't see the wreck after the turn.

you will know when theres a problem, usually the sound of a bike scraping some debris flying. Also control will tell you if you need to go yellow or red if you miss anything. i would say, get sunglasses in case your corner gets the sun in your eye. other than that dont worry too much.

I'm thinking of trying cornerworking to make trackdays easier as well. Exactly what are all the responsibilities or a cornerworker? I've never even been to a trackday.

Definitely bring some snacks and lunch with you. Definitely bring a cooler with lots of water and/ or sports drink (not just one or the other, most recommend 50/ 50 for to prevent dehydration). Bring some shade, bug spray, comfy chair, and rain gear.

Most of the time, as long as it hasn't been too wet or is currently raining, you can drive out to your corner. You just have to keep your vehicle way outside the impact areas.

Keep your head on a "swivel", and try to watch the track before and after your corner. 99 times out of 100, you'll hear the crash before you see it.

and please do not get pre-occupied on a cell phone! :BangHead::BangHead:

and there is that 1 time when someone does crash, you won't see or hear it so keep a close eye, when i used to cornerwork, i'd always count bikes coming up to the turn and then count them exiting..

So pretty much bring everything that I would bring to the beach...
leave the cell in the truck...
watch my riders enter and exit as best I can...
listen to control...
enjoy the atmosphere...

Thanks for all of the advice
