Associated Press poll ranks Houston No. 15

In an Associated Press poll released Sunday morning, Houston was ranked at No. 15 in the preseason, the highest in 25 years.

The ranking comes 17 days after Houston debuted at No. 13 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

In the final 2015 rankings for Amway Coaches Poll and the AP Poll, Houston finished No. 8, its highest finish since 1979.

The Cougars finished their last season at 13-1 with a final score of 38-24 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Houston, which was only one of two schools nationally to play at least four ranked opponents last season, remained undefeated in the matchups, with three of its wins over ranked opponents coming by double digits.

Houston ranked fifth nationally with an average winning margin of 19.7 points per game.
