U.S. men's basketball team wins 3rd straight gold medal, defeats Serbia

The U.S. men's basketball team won its third straight gold medal against Serbia on the last day of the Rio Olympics.

It was a blowout as the U.S. beat Serbia 96-66 on Sunday. Kevin Durant led the charge, scoring 30 points and going 10 of 19 from the field. Nemanja Nedovic led Serbia with 14 points.

The two teams had already played against each other in Rio during group play with the U.S. coming away with a three-point win.

Team USA defeated two of its biggest Olympic rivals - Spain and Argentina - on its way to the Olympic final.

It was the final game with the national team for Mike Krzyzewski, who took the Americans back to the top and leaves with them there after becoming the first coach to win three Olympic gold medals.

America's current streak of dominance in men's basketball started with the Dream Team in 1992 and has only been interrupted so far by Argentina in 2004. The U.S. has now won 15 gold medals in the 19 Olympic Games since basketball was first contested in 1936.
