Where do you sell your bikes?

the dealerships? or do you list them here and or craigslist?
i ask because I'm thinking of selling mine off cause i dropped it and got scratches on it. dealership gave estimate and insurance cut a check for 4k bucks. i wonder if i might be better selling it as is than investing the money into it? or just buying the plastic parts and changing them out myself? granted i hear those are expensive. what would your opinion be on the matteR? its a 2014 cbr. the right fender is scratched the plastic that covers the gas tank, and the little engine cover the circle thing. just cosmetic stuff but still should i a.) pay dealership to fix. b) try and fix myself replacing these parts c.) cell as is d.) fix myself and sell?

What do YOU want to do with your bike? Are you mechanically inclined enough to replace the fairings? Do you want a new bike? Do you want out of the sport? Help us help you...

IF you want to keep the bike, I'd suggest searching eBay for used OEM parts that you need and replace them yourself. No one will know any difference when you are done since you will be using OEM painted pieces.

You can then sell off the scratched items to recoup some of your money. Lots of people buy scratched OEM pieces if they are repainting anyway.

If it is as you described, it would probably be less than your deductible when all done.

If you just want to get rid of the bike, list it here and CL.

I guess you need to find out the value of the bike "as is" and the value of the bike in "like new" condition. Motorcycle sales are kind of slow now so it's a buyer's market.

You can ride it off a cliff, sell it for parts, donate it to somebody you want to see die in a fiery crash, or I'll buy it for next to nothing...

I just wonder if its a waste fixing it up cause i mean 4k for scratches seems like alot when the bike itself was like 12k. Where can i get the oem parts painted? And i didnt crash i just literally dropped it. As far as getting out of riding i like riding but sometimes want to sell because im sure insurance gonna raise my cost now and i already pay 110 bucks a month for not even collision coverage

If you really want new plastics, don't rule out Chinese aftermarket fairings. Some of them are decent enough, come painted, and less than a grand for a new set. Selling your OEMs would defray a lot of the cost, or keep them to put back on if you want to sell it later.

These "scratches" are from a low side (albeit low speed...although the three inch chicken strips make me scratch my head). Not just a drop.

Do you think we're retarded or something? Those scratches (i.e.: GRIND MARKS) happened when the bike hit the ground while in forward motion. Nobody care if you lowside your bike enough, but it's weird that you'd try to lie about it.

You should probably sell it. Motorcycles are not for everyone.

so you crashed the bike, not the end of the world.

Go to monsterfairings.com they sell full fairing kits for around $700 with guaranteed fitment and you can buy the clutch cover from bikebandit.com
