Texas Meetup, September 24, 2016

3rd annual meetup held in Austin, this will be my first rodeo but I've heard/seen the previous meet ups become a really big turnout. Figured I'd post since a lot of people are going and a lot would be interested. More details TBD

Based on everything I know about that event, I will make sure that I am in the cage that day.

was it that bad? I only saw the number of people that went, didnt look like everyone did something stupid. then again I guess its inevitable when you have this many different bikers in one spot

These meets attract way too many squids that have no regard for safety

Agree with me, crucify me, just my observation

i think only one bike went off last year (the side cart guy). it was put on very well, but of course you will have people showing up who have never rid in a big group. and for that reason ill be in the front doing my thing.

Even if a group like this was well-behaved (which they never are), the sheer number of riders creates a considerable inconvenience for other people and only serves to damage society's perception of motorcyclists

Nobody is scared of the nuisance that rides like this generate. Clearly you would recognize that you do indeed harm the public opinion of riders as a whole. You might not care about that, but I do. Rest assured, I know that the kind of people who attend these rides will do whatever the they want, the rest of society be damned. Because who cares if people have legitimate concerns when you can just be a and tell them to off?

I do agree that these big meetups attract squids. nonetheless, should be a good time if you're in it just for the meetup. theres always going to be people who hate us and disregard us on the road, and theres always going to be idiots who make every biker look bad. I think they take a huge group ride to eat at a restaurant, ill probably split early and beat everyone there if I go

yeah, they all meet up at one place, hang out, and then ride to a second place (involves food). then everyone splits off and does their own thing.
Check and see what smaller groups are forming and stick with them, try and find a buddy. I made superdave my buddy last year never met the guy and now we are best friends lol. These meet ups are so much fan and you will get to hang out with like minded folks. Ill be there all weekend, big ride saturday, supermoto sunday.
