If it's noon when we get to that gas station right there (i think thats what you are referring to). We'll probably stop at the Thirsty Parrot ( http://www.thethirstyparrot.com/ ) for lunch. Depends on the timing. Maybe we'll see you guys.

Ride went well - we had one mishap on 3090 with a flat tire. Luckily he was able to convienently stop on a side street and some hungry horses. No one had a plug kit (I advise everyone to purcahse one and a mini air compressor that you can store in your trunk.) Thankfully Dan's wife and son came to save the day all the way from Willowbrook to the top of 3090. They brought a plug kit and his son brought his RC51.

This delayed our ride about 1-2 hours or so but we successfully made it to the Thirsty Parrot (thank you tango1300 for the recommendation). The south guys decided to take 290 back and head home. Good thing as the rain is beginning up here in the Spring/Woodlands area.

Aside from the Cow truck trying to cut off the last few bikers TWICE, it was a great ride.

I have pictures and videos that I'll be posting soon.

(definately buying you some replacement plugs, too!)

Today was definitely a great group of guys and I appreciate everyone for hanging out while we got the tire fixed! I'll ride with you guys anyday!

I'll post up my photos later, too. Need to clean up and relax for a bit...

Brandon, That was a great ride and well put together! Any time I can ride with this great group of guys, I'll do it. Beautiful weather and we couldn't have picked a better spot to have a flat on Ramiro's (Hellfroze's) bike (unless it happened in front of a restaurant with plenty of cold water).:icon_smil

Everyone had a great time, I know I did. I'm pretty sure the horses had fun too.:icon_bigg

OOPS the flat occured on 362 at CR-316 not 3090 (wth).

We were unable to take the detour today. The flat occured right before the detour so we were all pretty hot and hungry once we got going again. We headed straight for the thirsty parrot.

I can't believe I did not get a picture of the horses. :BangHead:

But I did get a picture of Hellfroze's friend.

If the weather is good I probably will. It seems some people like the 'speed limit' pace. I'm going to be tweaking the route this week though. Some of these roads are under construction and all. But I'll try to keep the ride time and trip time about the same 3-5 hours. Seemed to be just enough. By the time I got about 10 miles from my house I wanted OFF the bike.

Today we all learned a great lesson that will potentially help us all be more prepared in the future. Here is what I will be doing to be more prepared for such an event or worse.

1. I am going to be investing in a trailer with a folding ramp on the back.
2. I will have a mini air compressor stored and ready for use with the flip of a switch installed on my bike. (probably in the trunk).
3. I will have a plug kit ready to go!

I've been riding out on those roads almost everyday it's dry. So I really need to be better prepared for this type of situation. It's a bummer that this had to happen to make me more prepared. You never know what can happen or where you will be when it does happen.

Great ride

Brandon, thanks for the great ride.
Ramero, no need to buy dinner etc. It gave my wife a chance to meet my friends and have lunch too. She really enjoyed it.

Next time I will have a repair kit that is for sure and several other things like tie wraps, elect tape etc.

I went thru some rain on my way home also. The good news is it really washed the bugs off of my leather coat.

Glad to see the ride went off without incident. A flat tire is not an issue as long as the bike can be brought to a stop safely.

For sport bikes with limited real estate for tools and accessories, go with a canister inflator rather than a compressor. No need for power, stores smaller, and will get the tired aired up enough to get it to a gas station to get it back up to running pressure.

The small powered inflators are good to have for touring or when conditions call for changing tire pressure on the road (on/off pavement).

I use one like this. Got it from Aerostitch, and the canisters can be purchased at any WalMart/Target/etc. On a day ride, I'll go with a small tire kit of fuzzy plugs, awl tool, rubber cement, wire cutters, and three air canisters.
