Hopkins joins Texans at training camp after brief hold out

The second day of Texans training camp Monday brought out wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for the first time.

Hopkins, unhappy with his contract, held out on opening day but reported for practice Sunday afternoon.

"I wasn't trying to send a message or anything like that," Hopkins said during a press conference Monday. "I was doing what I felt was best for me and my family."

Hopkins has two years remaining his his contract and is going to making $1.4 Million in 2016. His numbers make him one of the most productive, yet underpaid, receivers in the NFL. For now, he is here at camp to work .

"I play football for a living," Hopkins said. "That's my job. I love coming out here and being with my teammates. I just have to keep working. I know it'll come. I'm not rushing it. I know it'll happen one day."

Hopkins is the leader of a receiving unit that has the likes of Cecil Shorts III and rookies Will Fuller and Braxton Miller, along with Jaelon Strong.
