I wouldn't think that 'chics' pay attention to what size engine your bike has. If you're an idiot she's gonna find out sooner or later regardless of why kind of bike you have.

But then again, I'm old and married so what do I know.

Patricia, (and most of the rest in this thread) have VERY valid points. People who start out on the street ( no dirt bike experience or any bike experience) should not start out with a 600. It is flirting with trouble. Some people can pull it off, as they have sense enough to take it easy. Fools who jet across the street "accidentally" and into a ditch, are simply that, fools. Only a fool could "accidentally" gas it that much and end up in a ditch. That type of person has no business on a 600. I feel, a 600 or bigger bike should only be the first street bike for someone who has several years riding experience in the dirt. If it is your first bike of any type.... Stay off the 600. I'm not saying it can't be done, merely that it is not very wise to do so. That is all.

Yah, man, I give up. I COULDN'T start on a 1000 so I am a total hopeless loser. Dang, life really sucks.

I go back to my barn and the next person that walks in there and ask me "I want a horse, I CAN RIDE but I've never ridden before, what do you have for me" I'll say "I have this Thoroughbred back there in the corner, he just got off the track a few months ago, hot as heck. You'll have fun and since you CAN RIDE, it won't be a problem. He saddles nice, when you go out on the trail, just kiss to him slightly and he will trot a bit, if you kiss too loud, he will just take off, but you'll be alright, because you CAN RIDE.

See ya later."

who is this directed to?

for the record, my first bike was a 900 and the second was a 900. Was it the best choice(s), maybe not, but I can ride anything that has wheels. Only because I grew up riding in the dirt (no Patricia, horses scare the out of me, so no thanks!:icon_bigg)
Not EVERYONE can ride (as you said) so should not start with a 600 if that's their very first bike of any kind.
